This piece is dedicated to starting over.

I had originally started a different piece on this canvas prior to this painting, and I despised it. My only thought the whole time was I must restart completely. Although I love the outcome, her expression is exactly how I felt having to restart the previous painting.

As an artist, I try every day to get through the art block moments and the anxiety of failing at starting something new - but this piece reminded me that a failed painting can always be the start to one of my bests.

I created this piece in the middle of my self portrait journey. With 15+ hours of work, it is held near to my heart. This was the 5th self portrait that I had done in a row, and I can confidently say that all 5 are some of my favorite pieces I have made.
